I contacted Carhartt about a defective zipper on a pair of pants. I was directed to send it in for an evaluation. I was told in writing that the entire process from evaluation to repair/return/replacement would take 10-14 days. Carhartt received my pants on November 26,2024 (signed for by "Brian"). Finally on January 3rd I called Carhartt and got absolutely nowhere with there customer service person (please please please switch back to U.S. based representatives that aren't locked into a script). After nearly 25 minutes (2 minutes of actual conversation and 22 minutes of waiting on various holds), I disconnected and tried the chat. The CSR said that they had just submitted for replacement during our chat and that I would receive the replacement pants in 10-14 days (not holding my breath). The CSR couldn't/wouldn't shed any light on why it took my calling to get things moving or what the reason was for the delay. I've been in the trades for nearly 30 years and this makes me second think my allegiance to Carhartt.

I ordered a single item and opted to have the “next day shipping” added, which provided an estimated delivery of two days from the day of order. After 3 days the item still had not even shipped (tracking number showed that the courier did not even have the package as of the third day after ordering. When I contacted customer service all they could do was refund the shipping costs. When I asked for a cancellation, I was told they couldn't cancel because the order was “out for delivery”. When I screenshot the tracking number showing the item had not even left their facility yet, their answer was “yes it did”. So basically now I have to wait for item to arrive and then return it and wait for my refund....
Never again will I purchase anything from carhartt.
This item was going to be a special gift to my daughter for her birthday. Which I had to drive 1.5 hours to pick up a different gift for her, because well the original gift I picked out never arrived (thanks for the time waste carhartt).
I am replacing my carhartt summer and winter bibs as well as my carhartt jackets with something new, these experiences are a great reason to try new brands.
My suggestions to company:
-limit shipping options to what you can actually achieve
-empower customer service reps to cancel and refund orders when appropriate (ie: when you don't even attempt to ship an order out on time)

They asked me if I requested a return from Amazon, I said no it was over 60 days, never got a response back. Replied to my own email chain twice, now im just having a conversation with myself because Carhartt doesn't want to respond. Very heart breaking, I've been a loyal Carhartt customer for 14 years. A factory tear is well within workmanship warranty. And please don't tell me to call a 1800 number. Just answer my email about whether you guys care about your product line and customers.
March 8/24 - Carhartt reached out to me and asked for me email and item information March 2. I responded back to their email and never got an answer again. This is typically the trend im seeing. They pretend to care and reach out, then ghost you after you respond. This is very unprofessional. Stop pretending that you care when you don't. You're just trying to protect your image and brand, not your customers.

I phoned customer service & the agent argued that they were the same glove. Then she told me that I would have to return the wrong gloves & reorder, but that I would now have to pay the non-sale price. After repeated requests to talk to a supervisor, I was connected. She told me that yes, I would return the incorrect gloves & reorder, but she would honor the sale price I paid. She was supposed to call me back within an hour. That was 6 days ago & I never got a call back, but did get a return label.
The next day, I spoke to a very helpful agent who put in a replacement order for the correct gloves.
The package arrived today with 3 sets of men's boxer shorts!
This is a very bad customer experience & a horrendous reflection on this company.
I have no faith that this situation will be corrected.

Before I bought the jacket, I looked at their return policy and it said that you can return within 30 days of the delivery as long as it's not worn. The person I was in touch with via email (Lina Sandoval) told me that it would be very expensive to do a return and that I would have to pay for the shipping and it would take them a LONG time to do the return. So they asked me to keep the item and they'd refund me the 15% on the item. So now I have a jacket that can't be worn and I lost money. Do not order from this site!!!

They have charged my card for an item I have not received. I ended up buying the jacket from Amazon and got it on time for my trip (arrived in 48 hrs). But the customer service from Carhartts website is horrid. Please stay away... love the products but the experience has been very unpleasant.

Jacket arrives two weeks late for Xmas. Size chart completely off, too small. Sent back for the size larger. They received my return almost two weeks ago. Have no intentions of ever returning me my money.. hoping I forget about it? Phone first time, guy said he promised I would have my money back by Tuesday. That's bull crap that you can't cancel an order that hasn't been shipped or pulled yet. I really needed this for my hunting trip. Really disappointed. I've worked shipping desks before around 15 years ago and we were able to cancel any order as long as it had not been put on a delivery truck. Our returns policy is that your refund can take up to 21 working days from receipt in our warehouse to be processed and refunded, and you will receive a confirmation email of receipt.
Under normal circumstances, we expect your return to get back to us within 21 working days and then it could take up to 14 working days from then to process.

My husband contacted customer service and was unable to get through, so sent an email. No email reply was received. We used the online chat, twice. The first time we were told it was our error, as the items being returned should have had 2 separate labels, and that was the reason for the package being lost. We were only ever provided 1 return label, and followed the process for return that we were advised of. My return tracker had shown the arrival of the package at its destination months ago. We were told a refund would be processed in 48 hours. That was in February 2022, and we still do not have a refund. Contacted the online chat for assistance again, since customer service by phone or email is not helpful, was told they would look into it and get back to us in 2 business days. This representative even provided their specific email. This was in early March 2022, I've emailed the representative twice since and still do not have a refund.
This is ridiculous, and plain dishonest at this point. Carharrt received the return, and is refusing to provide the refund for the product we no longer have. We will never purchase from here again.

I ordered a jacket for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. When the delivery day was a few day's past I reached out to the support line to see where my order was. They then informed me that my order was lost and that I needed to reorder. They gave me a 10% promo code for the inconvenience (that ended up not working) I had contact them again for a code that works. The jacket finally arrived and was unfortunately was too large. I returned it on February 28th. It is now March 7th and I haven't received my return. It said in the email that refund would be issued as soon as the return label was created. This has been such a headache. Save your time and go to a reliable company.

They say on their website “ It can take up to 21 business days before your return has been processed” but when you contact them they suddenly say it's 21 days plus 14 days and then even though your item was returned it means nothing cause apparently it still has to go to Netherlands.
Only replied to one of my emails then ignored all others.
When I call they keep telling it will be sorted shortly.
Still waiting for £143 refund after nearly 2 months later.

I bought half a dozen items for Christmas gifts and wanted to return a sweatshirt. Followed the convoluted instructions, photocopied the 3 return slips and affixed to the outside of the box. Unfortunately for me, there were no local UPS drop off points so had to drive half an hour to nearest one. The shopkeeper would not give me any kind of receipt or acknowledge the return by giving me a signature to say I had left the parcel with him. In fact, he was so disinterested that I decided not to leave it and on my return contacted Carhartt. To be fair, they did respond to my emails but not with any constructive advice, only that could return the parcel to either their shops in London or Manchester (240 mile round trip) or return to the drop off shop again. I could have driven further to another UPS drop off point but was loathe to do this after the first unsuccessful attempt. I asked Carhartt for alternatives but they were unable to provide any. So I am unable to send the sweatshirt back without incurring further time and trouble. I am a bit surprised that returning an item to such a large company is as complicated as it is. So I will take it on the chin and the old man can wear it instead and I will not ever be buying from Carhartt again.

Confirmation of return from royal mail on 14th December that it had been received by Carhartt. Had heard nothing almost a month later so got back in touch. Several emails later they were claiming it was still on its way back to them (in between a random email which was meant for another customer!!!). Ended up calling them. Turns out it's been sitting in their UK warehouse for three weeks and will need to returned to their main depot in Europe before a refund will then be processed which will take ANOTHER 21 WORKING DAYS. Meaning that from day of return to actually getting my money back will be over 2 months!! Unbelievably bad service on such a huge number of levels. Avoid at all costs!

I took them in to the Cannock outlet store, she told me without my receipt and tags I cannot return them. I told her I will find the receipt and bring them to her the next day.
The next day I went into the store with the receipt and tags and she told me the trousers looked washed and worn, even though she seen them the previous day and she said I could take them back with the receipt.
She was very rude and told me she believes I've washed them and worn them for the trousers to have a hole in, even though it was caused by bad manufacturing.
She was really rude and spoke down to me like I was the reason the hole was caused by me.
Not happy with the service or the product.

It's been 3 months since I've ordered the product and still have not been able to return it. I have received better customer service from smaller brands and even gotten a refund from a store who just told me to keep the items. Customer service was not helpful in my returning process. This is ridiculous. Carhartt does not deserve its reputation with such bad customer service and return policy.

Needed replacement jeans in the mean time. They had supposably been out of stock. Spent hrs and hrs on the phone for assistance. To only be put on hold. I finally hung up called back. Amazingly they then had the jeans. Put on hold again for another 30. They told me they where going to compensate me for my time. The manager was going to email me with the credit. Went to place another order and use the credit to purchase more products. mind you the credit wouldn't have covered a third of it I received nothing. Called back again sat on the phone for 45 min waiting. Finally hung up. This company is offal. Your company is nothing if you have no customers. I'm contacting the BBB. Contacted Carhartt and did what they asked me to do. After a week heard nothing so I called back and spoke to another individual who said that he would have to send an email to the head office. I waited another week and called back and spoke to a third person and was put on hold for about 10 minutes. She came back and said what they could do for me was I could buy another pair of boots from them at a discounted price and then they would reimburse for what the boots cost. I agreed and she took my credit card information and then put me on hold again and said that she needed to start the reimbursement process. She then came back and told me that they couldn't reimburse me because I didn't buy the boots from their website. I then told her to cancel my order as I wasn't going to pay for another pair of boots and she said that she would. About 10 minutes later I received an email advising me that the order had been placed and my credit card had been charged and that I couldn't stop the payment. I called back to Carhartt and spoke to a 4th person who told me that there was nothing they could do to stop the shipment and that the third person I spoke to was new and did not know the process.
I was told that once I received the boots I could return them to Carhartt and that I would have to wait 35 to 40 days before I could get my money back. I have a feeling that I will never get my money back since I am from Canada and not the US.
I will never purchase anything from Carhartt again as they do not back their products and when you have a defective product and expect to get a replacement and not have to pay anything they tell you if you want the product you have to pay for it.
They are a scam of a company and I wouldn't recommend anyone to purchase any of their products

I returned them as instructed with a letter requesting the size needed and received the same exact size back. Then returned again but didn't hear anything for a month. After calling I had to provide proof that I returned the second pair. Was on the phone 5 times over the course of two months and still have no pants to show and no refund. No communication, don't keep notes on issues, don't follow through with customers, long wait times on hold. Absolutely worst experience with a company and I will not buy Carhartt from now on.

Ordered two jackets for my fiancé's birthday. Used the size guide for reference, measured my partner as we'd not ordered from this brand before. Measurements on the website do not match the measurements of the products, so the size guide is a complete waste of time.
Obviously had to return the items.
Firstly, they don't offer an exchange, which meant we had to create a second account so we could still get the new customer discount on the replacement items.
Second, posted items back on 15/10/2021, they received it back by 18/10/2021 at their UK warehouse, but that doesn't mean I get a refund, why? Because the items aren't back at the despatch warehouse, which shouldn't be the customers problem, it's poor operations for an international brand.
Have been informed that my refund may take up to 30 days and that's just for it to be processed, bank will then take 7-10 working days.
The most archaic, and poor returns policy and process I've ever encountered, and I've worked in multi-channel businesses for thirteen years. Will never order from this brand again, and certainly won't be advertising them on my socials.
Update: 31/10/21 Still no refund, and the replacement items shrunk on the first wash, despite washing them on a lower temperature than stated on the care label. Really disappointed as I didn't expect shrinkage from a brand that's known for quality.
Update: Received my refund on 03/11/2021. Have amended the original 1 star review to 2 as they have now given my money back for the original purchase. Please be aware of your rights as a consumer, as well as the laws and trading standards for online purchases.

However, I did get its email with the return label but it was sent well after the many stated calls and emails of almost 5 weeks.
In any event, let's see what they do with the defectively manufactured shorts.

Carharrtt's return policies are illegal according to the FTC. I order a pair of overalls from carhartt and paid for expedited shipping to have them in time for a wood haul that coming weekend. The package arrived on time, but the item inside was a men's XXL coat. I was super bummed to not have my overalls in time for the wood haul but figured it was a simple mistake on their part so I called customer service to make arrangements for exchange.
I was then dragged through a 45 minute wrestling match with a customer service rep and then her mgr. They refused to send me the item I actually ordered and already paid for, or refund my money without me first sending back the item they mistakenly shipped me (Mind you they have no idea what they even sent me, I could've walked off with a $300 dollar coat for $89.00 for all they would know). There only solution for 45 minutes was for me to wait for them to ship me a return label, then for me to send the mistake (coat) back, and once they received it back they would see IF they still had the overalls I ordered in stock to then resend them to me. According to them this process would take about 2-3wks.
Complete bologna. According to the FTC website this situation should be pretty simple. A business can REQUEST that you return mistakenly shipped item(s) but it legally CANNOT require you to do so. Only after a 45 minute call and me asking if it was legal for them to withhold my funds and my rightfully purchased product did they abruptly end the call with “donate the coat, we'll refund your money.” I already offered to return the item. I just wanted them to ship my overalls that they were keeping the money for in the meantime. But nope, this resolution was better to them.
As if that weren't disgusting enough, when I look at my refund I received 5 business days later, I see they only credited me $14 of my purchase total. So I call again... after another 33 minute call (about 27 of which were on hold) I'm told they would NOW refund my money in another 5-7 business days.
They have to cater to hardworking people because they expect their customers to do all the legwork for their mistakes. And just to throw this in there one last time: this practice is illegal. Businesses and consumers are legally obligated to honor their purchase agreements. You take my money, you owe me the good you took the money for. You mistakenly deliver the wrong item, you still owe me the item you took my money for. You can't provide me the item, you owe me a refund. You still want you stupid coat back, send me a label. I never wanted it in the first place.

After one wearing, I went to tighten the straps and the fabric literally shredded in my hands. I called Carhart twice, they located the order (I no longer had the receipt) and they emailed me a UPS return label. The return was received by Carhart on 7/29/21. I have called 3x and have been put on "brief holds" lasting over 45 minutes each time. Nothing has been resolved. Today after my lunch break had expired, I was forced to hang up after 40 minutes of a "brief hold." All I would like is the new overalls sent to me as promised. No one seems to be able to help me. I am put in a constant cycle of holds with no resolution. For such a popular company, I am frustrated with their terrible customer service.

Carhartt has lost me and my family as customers. My son, a big Carhartt wearer bought 2 pairs of SID pants and loved them so much, I bought him 3 pairs for his bday less than one month later. They appeared great BUT after washing one pair, they shrunk beyond ever wearing again.
These pants are not supposed to be cheap material. While I do understand it was beyond the 14 day return policy, the pants were not washed within that period, but months later. They were washed in cold water, no dryer. The tags for care had no warning of shrinkage, and barely ANY english on them, cold water, no dryer is what I did.
Sounds like faulty mdse to me. I was offered a 15% discount code on my next purchase. NOPE, sorry....Carhartt should stand behind their Mdse, period. I should be able to return these pants in exchange for another pair....period.
Stay away from name brands that don't stand behind their product!

I saved for ages to buy my first brand-new Carhartt jacket- I'd only ever had "hand-me-downs"..
I was excited to place my order and mighty grateful for my "welcome gift" of 20% off my first order
All I needed to do was sign-up, which I did immediately- who wouldn't want to be in their tribe?
I used their size-guide and ordered the same size as my beloved Levi's Truckers Jacket.
My Carhartt jacket was too big.
- Could I please exchange it for one size smaller? NO
- If I wait for my refund and buy the same jacket again but one size smaller, would you be kind enough to give me the same price? NO
- It would still be my first ever, brand-new Carhartt Jacket. I'd appreciate it if you'd reconsider as I worked long and hard to get the money and winter is coming. I'm a working class family man, please try? NO,NO,NO!
I think that right there is the difference between "Customer Service" and "Customer Care".
They have taken the magic out of it and maybe I will just wear a thick hoodie under my Levi's Trucker Jacket which fits like they made just for me ...
( I am also still waiting for my refund but Carhartt's Terms and Conditions give them shedloads of time to process my return, so I will just have to sit here quietly)

I finally got an email after having to ask multiple times that said they have me a gift card for the $13 it cost me to send it. A carhartt only gift card. Contacted Carhartt today and they have sent me an irrelevant form so they can "start and investigation with the carrier" which will take another 2 - 4 weeks! They owe my £160 for the return. I'm really not impressed. Issues with their carrier is their problem not mine! I followed all their instructions. Reading all the reviews it seems to be happening a lot. Wish I'd never ordered from them and definitely won't be again! Any companies I've dealt with in the past have just refunded once you've shown proof of postage. Shockingly bad customer service.

Well this is not the case with Carhartt, now I must return the short sleeve t-shirt and repay $30 shipping to get the large as they do not have an exchange policy, leaving us Canadian's in the cold. 20 years I have been buying and wearing Carhartt, but the product does not make economical sense when a $30 t-shirt cost me $60 shipping :-(

I ordered goods through Carhartt - unfortunately they did not fit so I returned as per Carhartts return policy. Since then....
I have spoken to them on the phone, although it is interesting to see that they are no longer taking phone calls.
I have sent them an email.
I have tried the online chat but no answer.
I have asked on Facebook - along with a number of other people.
I have heard a number of excuses, Brexit, Covid, Snow..... I have not had this problem with any other company. Most refund within 14 days.
They have told me that they received the return on 04/01/21 and sent it to Amsterdam on 06/01/21. It is now 26/02/21 and I have still not received a refund.
I am assuming that they have lost the item but for some reason will not admit it and therefore will not refund me.
Lesson learned - never place another order.
Received the reply below from Carhartt.... unfortunately I have 'reached out' three times but have been ignored. All lip service!
Thanks again Carhartt for your most recent 'reach out' suggestion...perhaps tell me how.. you dont answer the phone, emails are ignored and my Facebook message was not responded to. As I say, lousy customer service.

Carhartt made no contact with me, I have sent plenty of emails to chase this up, hardly getting a reply, yet when they do reply it's some excuse... brexit, snow, issues with delivering.
It's appalling they can treat their customers in this way.
I will never shop with them again. I originally planned to return my item and re-order in the correct size but this won't be happening.
Terrible company. Should be ashamed.
I'm sure they are getting the benefits of the money they are not refunding to everyone.
My last email to them I asked how to make a complaint and I've beeen ignored completely now.
8 weeks no refund, no answers, just excuses. Poor customer service.

We asked them to confirm if the jacket paid over 110€ for was new, they replied they were sorry it looks as if there an issue with the coat. If we don't like the coat, we can return.
I sent another mail requesting just a confirmation the coat was new. Up till now, no confirmation!
I felt my goodness, how can a company like this, be taking several hundreds of Euros from people and cheating them this way. the coat in my opinion should not even cost up to 30€
What is going on in this world? why have people chosen money over credibility and Integrity? Don't let your children pushed you into buying from this very online company in Germany.

Returned my goods on the 29 December to the address they state, they received them on the 31st December and yet I still have no refund!! Everything has to go back to a certain warehouse in the Netherlands apparently and so proof of postage in the UK stands for nothing.
They have never contacted me to explain the delay and I have had to chase them entirely. They don't even bother to read emails just send generic replies! Apparently it's all down to Brexit and yet I managed to return a fridge to Germany in January and get a full refund. Latest sob story is the snow!! Today I have been told that I should get my money back by Friday but that's what they said last week! I will be contacting my credit card company if I do not receive payment by the end of this week.

The support team have told me that it takes up to 14 days from them receiving it at their warehouse in the Netherlands to process the refund. Due to Brexit and the new procedures needed to transport goods out of the UK this is taking longer so my item is not even there yet. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Once there, they forward it to The Netherlands - but you don't get your refund until it reaches them. I have tried contacting in several different ways, to no avail and Carhartt on fb said they cannot help me as they are in North America - no Carhartt UK on fb?? I wonder why..... I just cannot seem to get anything out of them at all, even after sending an email titled 'Complaint'. It's not Covid-related, it's disgusting customer service and an excellent way for them to keep their customer's money for longer! STILL waiting for some kind of response and my refund to be paid!!!
EDIT 16 Feb 2021 : I received an email from Carhartt UK on 2nd Feb basically saying that the item needs to reach their warehouse in the Netherlands before they refund. Their website states - 'It can take up to 21 business days before your return has been processed.' ....'Returns can take longer due to the Covid-19 situation and the custom clearance procedure.'
I've now been waiting 33 business days so far (not including the day it was sent), I've had no confirmation of anything in that time apart from their email on 2nd Feb - replying to my complaint email (finally! - other means of communication were all ignored before, but then my initial review went on here 1 day before, funny how that seemed to trigger a response all of a sudden!). Disgusted. Will not be buying from them again. Hoping I will get my money back sometime soon!!!

Finally...received an email this afternoon with a number to call. A very apologetic and polite young lady sorted it out for me (she escalated the matter to mgmt), and I received the refund in my account within about 20 minutes. Now, that wasn't too difficult was it, after some 42 working day since item returned!

While I was upset with their website at the time, I contacted customer service, it was on hold for less than five minutes, spoke with a lovely woman who said that she would get back to me about canceling two of the three orders throughout the multiple steps it would take to cancel them at their point of processing. She was very sweet and helped assure me that they would do everything they can to make sure two of the vests could be canceled before they ship out. She also assured me that if they cannot catch them before they ship that she would let me know that they are all on their way and to just return them at my nearest UPS/post office for a refund. Overall, the customer service was fabulous and I am very, very pleased!

I then attempted to send them back and was charged £9.53 to send them back.
I then proceeded to email carhartt (as I was unable to call their wip customer service as they are based in Germany) in an attempt to be reimbursed and I was further patronised and mocked by their customer service team, David in particular.
He first made the example of 'if you buy something from amazon and try to return it to eBay it's obviously not going to work', I found this incredible rude and was not the same circumstance at all.
He then proceeded to tell me that 'you had made a mistake and wanted us (carhartt) to pay for it' which was potentially one of the rudest customer service encounters I have ever experienced.
I will NEVER be purchasing any carhartt products again.

When I purchased my pants and shirts it's was written nice and clear that I would receive free shipping and returd, if I purchased for more than €125! I purchased for well over €160.
When I tried to return the pants, I was told I had to pay for the return!
When I've contact the customer support I'm just getting getting spun along by their customer service who is refusing to help!
I have even provided them with evidence of time-stamped screenshots off the promises of free return!
But they don't seem to care at all...
In conclusion I would warn anybody against purchasing anything from them.

1st order with just a couple shirts and hat came in a vinyl shipping bag. (Came from Kentucky)
2nd time I had a larger than normal order, like a backpack...and they shipped in a box that's unnecessarily large. Maybe 5 times the size it should have been. And it wasn't sealed well and the tape on the top of the box was loose and the flaps of the box was undone...seriously you can just grab the products out with your hand.
I didn't even get my packing slip or receipt bc it probably fell out.
Whatever, good thing I'm keeping everything anyways.
But this could have been a nightmare...
(This order came in 2packages, Bags/gloves from KY and shirt from TN.)
I did have to return a couple things from the 1st order so I'm still waiting for that to process.
Their return system seems to be primitive compared to other retailers out there.
It should send auto messages when the return tracking is initiated and show for both parties when the package is received and that return is being processed in "whatever said" time. But they don't.
I had to contact them once I tracked the return and saw it arrived to their warehouse and their customer service said they have nothing in the system yet and I need to wait 2-5 days. It's been 4 days so I guess I wait 1 more day...just so primitive.
(Update: I received my return notice 5 working days once the packaged was received on their end.)
Also just a note...I started ordering from here bc of their FREE SHIPPING (and on returns) during this Covid 19 situation.
Their shipping bags and boxes have their logo printed on them. But honestly I'd rather not have the brand on them. I don't like others seeing where I am ordering from. This might encourage theft as well.

Their products are great, but I will never be ordering from their website again. I am shocked that their e-commerce model does not offer a return shipping label with the products shipped. I paid upwards of $20+ to have the item shipped to me that is including tax and (I will admit I did select the faster shipping method to have here in time for a birthday gift for my husband). Unfortunately I ordered his size in Big/Tall instead of regular and it did not fit him. To return it today it cost me $22.99. So in total I have spent almost $50 for a product that we did not even end up keeping. They do not even offer the option for an exchange, for example in this scenario I would have liked to exchange the Big/Tall option for the regular in his size.
I would really think twice before ordering from their website and I hate to say support them on any other site.
